NATIVE AMERICAN CHURCH AND SUN DANCE

WAY OF LIFE

CONFERENCE OF THE NATIVE AMERICAN PATH

We will introduce ourselves to the community and share about the different ceremonies and rituals that we had participated in during the time walking these sacred traditions, and how much this has changed our perspective of view, our behaviors, our life and destiny. An introduction to the native spiritual path that is open to every one who feels the call.

CANUPA CEREMONY

In the Lakota tradition the "Canupa"(sounded "sha..nupa") was brought to the people by the 'white buffalo calf woman' to help them to raise and amplify their prayers to the creator. It is a very sacred instrument that the people who have been given the responsibility to carry it must protect it with their life and pass it on to the next seven generations. The elders believe for as long as the people continue to pray with the Canupa the cycle of existence for humanity will continue in a good way. Through this ceremony we raise our prayers to the Great Spirit, we express our hearts and strengthen our connection with all of our relationships through this tool delivered by our ancestors.

SWEAT LODGE CEREMONY (INIPI or TEMAZCAL)

The Inipi is an ancient Native American traditional ceremony that allows us to recreate our impressions and projections about the world, consciously modifying our original codes. It is performed in a circular dome with a hole in the center that is the womb of our Mother Earth. We raise a fire which represents the sun and its creative power, where stones are heated and brought into the lodge waiting for them sitting in a circle in silence. Then we close the door and start the prayers and songs evoking the 4 great powers of the universe, the Father Sky and Mother Earth during the 4 door movements. An experience intimately connected through the darkness and warmth of the stones, the prayers, intentions, chants and silence.

Entering this belly is a powerful experience for the treatment of many diseases, stimulates internal organs and clean our be releasing toxins, stress, and accumulated energy for different reasons.

What to bring: A good purpose for the ceremony, women bathing suit covered with a sarong or skirt, man in bathing suits, towels, food to share. Women in menstrual period cannot enter.

CIRCLE OF TRADITIONAL SONGS

We uplift through the medicine of the Sacred Chants of the NAC (native american church). It is performed as designed and delivered by our leaders; we will share the rattle and drum which are the sacred instruments of the tradition. We will teach 4 traditional songs that will be sung during the Grandfather ceremony. We will evoke our essence with songs and prayers consolidating our relationship with the creative rhythm. We connect, heal and raise the spirit from the understanding of being children of Mother Earth and Father Sky.

Attendees please bring pillows, rattle, drum, audio recorder, pencil and write notes for the songs. Also some food to share.

GRANDFATHER CEREMONY

This ceremony represents the center of the spirituality of Native North America. It is a spiritual healing ceremony, takes place through personal prayer, interacting with the four elements of life, feeling the heartbeat of Mother Earth through the vibrations of the water drum, enjoying the natural rhythm of rattle, songs of prayer of the medicine, achieving a spiritual connection with the creator level, with the ritual use of sage, cedar and tobacco and the guide of the Road Man.

It is important to mention that the participants attend in order to support the main prayer of the ceremony, but also they may go with any personal purpose for which to pray, some emotional, physical or spiritual problem, celebrating a special occasion, request for family or friends or just for giving thanks, focusing on his personal motive as well as support at all times the primary purpose of the ceremony.
